Import Clothing from Turkey to Libya: Plus-Size Wholesale Guide

Boutiques in Tripoli, Benghazi and Misrata can buy plus-size womenswear wholesale straight from our Istanbul atelier: register free, send your order list on WhatsApp and receive a proforma invoice, with a $400 minimum per shipment. This guide covers shipping routes, documents, payment and what to stock for winter and Ramadan 2027.

Import Clothing from Turkey to Libya: Plus-Size Wholesale Guide

Yes: a boutique in Tripoli, Benghazi, Misrata or anywhere else in Libya can buy plus-size clothing wholesale from Turkey without travelling to Istanbul. You register free on our site, build an order list in sizes 44 to 60, send it to our sales team on WhatsApp and receive a proforma invoice, with a $400 minimum per shipment. The goods then travel by sea to a Libyan port such as Misrata, Tripoli or Benghazi, by air cargo, or with your own cargo company, and a clearing agent in Libya handles customs on arrival.

  • Turkish clothing in Libya: in 2024 Türkiye supplied 24.0% of Libya's clothing imports, second only to China, according to ITC Trade Map figures compiled by İHKİB, the Istanbul Apparel Exporters' Association.
  • No free-trade agreement: Libya does not appear among Türkiye's trade agreements in the US government's January 2026 summary, so no Türkiye-specific tariff preference applies.
  • Main seaports: these include Tripoli, Khoms and Misrata in the west and Benghazi in the east, with Misrata handling the most container traffic of these in 2020 (UN Logistics Cluster).
  • Ramadan 2027: expected to begin around Monday 8 February 2027, with Eid al-Fitr on 9 or 10 March, subject to moon sighting (UAE Astronomy Centre projections).
  • Our terms: sizes 34–60 (plus sizes 44–60), a $400 minimum per shipment, full size sets or single pieces; different models and colours can be combined.

Rules and dates checked in October 2026. Import rules change, so confirm the current position with your clearing agent before every shipment.

Can I buy plus-size clothing wholesale from Turkey for a shop in Libya?

Yes: a shop in Libya can buy plus-size clothing wholesale from Turkey online, without a buying trip to Istanbul. Turkish clothing is already well established in the Libyan market: ITC Trade Map figures compiled by İHKİB, the Istanbul Apparel Exporters' Association, show that in 2024 Türkiye supplied 24.0% of Libya's clothing imports, second only to China with 54.9% and ahead of Egypt with 14.3%.

We are a plus-size womenswear manufacturer and wholesaler with our own atelier in Istanbul, where we have cut and sewn in-house since 1998. The catalogue holds more than 600 styles and thousands of colour variants in sizes 34 to 60. Wholesale prices and live stock are visible to members only; registration is free and takes about 30 seconds. If you are in Istanbul, you can visit the showroom by appointment.

How do orders from Libya work, step by step?

You register free, build an order list on the site, send it to our sales team on WhatsApp in one tap and receive a proforma invoice once stock, size breakdown and final pricing are confirmed; the steps are the same for every Libyan city.

  1. Register free. It takes about 30 seconds, and members see wholesale prices and live stock for every style.
  2. Build your order list on the site. Different models and colours can be combined, you can order full size sets or single pieces, and each shipment needs to reach the $400 minimum.
  3. Send the list on WhatsApp in one tap to +90 555 336 47 86, with your city and, if you already use one, the name of your cargo or forwarding company.
  4. Receive the proforma invoice. The team confirms stock, size breakdown and final pricing before anything is paid.
  5. Agree payment for the order: bank transfer, cash, or payment through your cargo company.
  6. Agree shipping: a tracked carrier such as DHL, UPS or FedEx, or your own cargo or forwarding company; shipping terms are agreed with each order.

How do goods get from Istanbul to Tripoli, Benghazi or Misrata?

Goods from Istanbul usually reach Libya in one of three ways: by sea to a Libyan port, by air cargo, or through a cargo or forwarding company you already use. Your forwarder will advise which suits each shipment.

  • Sea freight. Libya's main commercial seaports include Tripoli, Khoms and Misrata in the west and Benghazi in the east, according to the UN Logistics Cluster's capacity assessment for Libya, whose figures show Misrata handling the most container traffic of these ports in 2020. Container services link ports in the Istanbul area with Misrata; ask your forwarder which port and service suit your city.
  • Air cargo. The same assessment lists Mitiga in Tripoli, Misrata and Benina in Benghazi among the country's main airports. Air suits a first order or an urgent top-up and is usually charged on the greater of actual and volumetric weight, so compare quotes on the same weights and carton sizes.
  • Your own cargo company. If you already use a cargo or forwarding company that collects in Istanbul, name it when you send your list, so collection and shipping terms can be agreed from the start.
  • Door to door or port to port? Ask each forwarder exactly what the quote covers: collection in Istanbul, the main journey, clearance in Libya and delivery to your shop.

We do not quote transit times, freight costs or customs outcomes, because they depend on the route, the carrier, the season and clearance in Libya. Ask your forwarder for a current written quote and plan your order around it.

Which documents does my clearing agent need?

Your clearing agent will usually ask for a commercial invoice, a packing list and a certificate of origin, plus the transport document, which is a bill of lading for sea freight or an air waybill for air cargo, and may ask for more.

  • Commercial invoice: the bill for the goods, with descriptions and quantities that match the cartons exactly.
  • Packing list: the contents of each carton, which customs officers use to check the cargo.
  • Certificate of origin: a signed statement of where the goods were made, usually validated by a chamber of commerce in the exporting country; ask your agent whether it needs further certification for Libya.
  • Bill of lading or air waybill: the carrier's document for the shipment.
  • Anything else: ask whether your shipment needs an inspection or conformity certificate, an importer registration or Arabic labelling, and agree with our sales team who arranges each document before you pay.

No free-trade agreement between Türkiye and Libya is in force: Libya does not appear in the US government's summary of Türkiye's trade agreements, last published in January 2026. There is therefore no Türkiye-specific preference to claim, and your agent classifies the garments and applies Libya's current tariff.

Practical tip: send the proforma invoice to your clearing agent before you pay. Correcting a description or adding a document is simple while the goods are still in Istanbul and much harder once they are at the port.

How do I pay for a wholesale order from Libya?

Payment is agreed with our sales team for each order, by bank transfer, cash or payment through your cargo company, and you pay against the proforma invoice once stock, size breakdown and final pricing have been confirmed. If you want to pay through your cargo company, say so when you send your list, so the arrangement is agreed before the order is confirmed.

Which sizes and styles sell in Libya this season?

For the coming months, build a Libyan winter order around coats, jackets and long-sleeve layers in plus sizes 44 to 60, then add dresses and co-ord sets for daily wear, family visits and the run-up to Ramadan. Tripoli, Misrata and Benghazi lie on the Mediterranean coast, where the World Bank's climate risk profile of Libya describes mild, relatively rainy winters: rain falls mainly between October and March, and January averages around 12 to 13°C in Tripoli and Benghazi.

  • Coats: wool-touch, trench and leather-look coats, some lined with faux fur; many styles run from 44 to 54 or 58, so check each range.
  • Jackets: blazers and leather-look or suede-look jackets that layer over dresses and tunics in the cooler months.
  • Dresses: long and midi lengths for daily wear and visits, with satin and chiffon styles for evenings and occasions.
  • Co-ord sets: a shirt, blouse, vest or jacket with matching trousers or skirt, sold as one outfit and easy to reorder by colour.

Each style shows its own size range on the product page. Turkish wholesale clothing is usually sold by the size set, or seri, a run of sizes in one colour, and single pieces let you add to a style that is already selling without waiting for a full set; our guide to size sets explains the logic.

If your customers prefer long sleeves, maxi lengths, opaque fabrics and loose fits, write that in your list. For this season's new coat styles, see our AW 2026/27 coats article.

Libya's neighbours Tunisia and Egypt each have their own import rules; if you also supply customers there, our guide for Maghreb and Egyptian boutiques covers those markets.

When should I order for Ramadan and Eid 2027?

Order early enough for Ramadan stock to be on your shelf before Ramadan begins, expected on or around Monday 8 February 2027, and for Eid stock to arrive by the middle of Ramadan, since Eid al-Fitr is expected on Tuesday 9 or Wednesday 10 March 2027, subject to moon sighting. These are the likely dates calculated by the UAE's Astronomy Centre and reported by Khaleej Times; the final dates in Libya are announced after the crescent is sighted. Work out your latest order date now rather than in January.

  1. Set your shelf date: before 8 February for a Ramadan collection, and around the middle of Ramadan for Eid stock.
  2. Subtract transit: your forwarder's written door-to-door estimate from Istanbul.
  3. Subtract clearance: a buffer from your clearing agent, including time to check the documents.
  4. Subtract confirmation and preparation: the time agreed with our sales team to confirm stock, issue the proforma invoice, receive payment and prepare the shipment.
  5. The result is your latest order date. Send your list well before it, because a late payment or a missing document eats into shelf time first.

Our Ramadan and Eid 2027 buying calendar has a worked example and Türkiye's 2027 public holiday dates, which matter for late top-ups.

Ready to plan your winter and Ramadan order? Register free and browse the catalogue, where wholesale prices and live stock appear as soon as you are signed in, then send your list on WhatsApp and our sales team will come back to you with a proforma invoice.
